Belonging to the chenopodiaceae family, beetroot is a demanding plant in terms of nutrients. It grows in deep, medium-heavy to heavy, but its development is hindered by compacted soil. It is therefore a demanding crop in terms of tillage.
Our solutionsThe minimum return planting time of beetroot in a rotation is 4 years (ideally 5 years to reduce the risk of pythium root rot and nematodes) and 3 years for another member of the chenopodiaceae family (spinach, beetroot, chard ribs, etc.).
Favourable preceding crops are harvested between late July and late August and should be followed by work to unpack the soil.
Beetroot is adapted to rich rotations. It is usually a good preceding crop, especially when the leaves are incorporated back into the soil.

Absorption curve of nutrients by sugar beet, for a yield of 100 t/hectares to 16% sugar (In kg/hectare)
Beetroot is a demanding crop in terms nutrients, especially potash due to its importance in the sugar accumulation process.
Calcium is also a key nutrient for the crop. In case of a deficiency, the youngest leaves curl and die.
Its good development is also governed by two key secondary elements: boron and magnesium.
Our solutions for organic farming
Period of application:
Before establishment
Objective: Stimulating soil life, availability of nutritive elements and enhancing resources
- Enhancing your soil and organic inputs
- Improving the nitrogen availability of cover plants, compost for better growth and yield
- Improving phosphorus availability
In addition, our different media will also bring magnesium and potassium for improved nutrition etc…
Period of application:
On establishment
Objective: strong start-up, root growth and stress resistance
- Good establishment to close the row rapidly
- Stimulating root development for more exploration and yield
- Improving stress tolerance for improved yield (quality)
In addition, our different media will also bring phosphorus, magnesium and potassium, necessary for nutritional quality, etc…
Period of application:
On establishment
Objective: Stimulating the growth of crops for better quality
- Stimulating root growth
- Increasing soil fertility by providing organic elements (NPK)
- Improving nutrient absorption
In addition, our various media bring for example potassium, necessary for nutritional quality, etc…
